Do you use a memory sticks and vista or memory sticks and window 7 ?
Worms claim to have infected 9.5million computer and may take over them simultaneously anytime.
There's a pictures on the BBC technology news section, if you see a double "open file for viewing" then watch out. And hers another report.

Funnily enough, I've had my laptop for roughly 8 months, and I've only been infected by a virus once (no anti-virus, but I think Windows Firewall runs for me constantly), and that's from a recent installation of Guitar Pro 5.2 which my friend gave me.

actually if you do not have contact with other computer via a memory stick. you're safe, I use that constantly to move works around for digital printing. so the news alarmed me. I use my Mac to format the memory stick every time it returns from a print center before sticking it in the pc.

Sadly enough, I don't have an "official" copy of XP so I'm stuck with Vista right now. I hate how they pester you, but meh. The same reason I don't bother with anti-virus.
Also, I don't share around my memory stick outside of between my laptop, XBox and my desktop which are all on the same network.

And it is a lot more sinister than what you might think. It can get in through far more than just USB. Read the post, and be in the know and protected.
